How To Keep Pigeons Away From Bird Feeders
Your current bird feeder is not for pigeons; at least most of them are not. Pigeons can be dirty and can even spread disease sometimes. Not to mention that when pigeons are around, the smaller birds stay away. That is why a lot of people want to know how to keep pigeons away from bird feeders. Because they are outside, you may have a difficult time keeping the pigeons away, but it is not impossible. You will have to place the bird food in a way that it is impossible for a pigeon to get from the bird feeder.
Realistically, if you're having a problem with pigeons getting into your birdfeeder, you are most likely going to need to get rid of the feeder for some time. Depending on the birds you are trying to attract and the size of their beaks you may be able to use fine mesh to keep pigeons out of the feed. You may also consider switching to hummingbird feeders as they won't attract pigeons. Finally, you can try some needle strips if they are larger and placed far enough apart to deter pigeons but still leave room for the smaller birds to land comfortably.
